Us Brits are renowned for our main topic of conversation… the weather. Seems its the only thing that exerts an abiding and consuming interest.
Always moaning about it we are… too hot; too cold; too dry; too wet. Always too bloody something or other. Or its the humidity. Or the bone-chilling damp. Or something. Too windy. Not enough breeze. Wouldn’t it be nice to have some snow? When’s the damned snow going? Never satisfied, that’s us.
Or p’raps its simply that we’re avid observers of the changes that seem to occur with remarkable frequency and would sooner talk about those than boring stuff like… oh, I dunno… anything really. In fact, you prob’ly can’t consider yourself a true Brit unless you have an impressive repertoire of weather-related moans and groans.
I’m no exception of course. Not too many posts will pass on this ‘ere blog before the weather gets at least some mention, in one way or another.
And here we go again.
What I want to know is, how can a day change from being depressingly grey and overcast like this…
… to being brightly sunny and colourful like this…
… all in a matter of minutes. Eh? How? That’s what I wanna know.
And it plays bloody havoc with the white balance as well. Sodding weather! But at least that damn snow seems to have disappeared. Y’know, the snow that was all over the place just yesterday.
(Note the introduction of yet another slant on moaning about the weather… how it messes up all this pic-taking caper!)

“depressingly grey”. Is it really depressing? I mean, doesn’t the grey cloud cover also offer a chance for different pictures? Or is it simply another English tradition to call grey skies depressing?
May be a tradition but grey’s also definitely depressing. Leastways it was pretty depressing for mate and I this particular day.
Maybe you need to keep a nip of whisky with you? Just to help mediate the depressing greys.
Damn I hate snow! I hate the cold, the snow, the winter, the…. yeah, me too. (sigh) Ready for Spring, I am!
