One day I may manage to get it right

The five minute snowfall P1020443

Ok, so I dismally failed to get even one single Moon pic yesterday evening… but I did manage to get some snow pics last night!

Yep, it snowed once again here in jolly old Bedford. For all of five minutes. Or maybe less.

Within seconds of starting it really did look as though we were in for a good old downfall… and that it would settle.

So of course I had to quickly dive for the camera and grab me some pics.

Just as well I did. Dive quickly that is.
For within minutes (possibly less than five though it may have been more, but certainly not much) it was all over and done.

Yeah, it lingered around for a while, but the actual white stuff falling out of the sky in a respectable manner? No, that was it.

Only snag was, in my haste I’d forgotten to check all the camera settings. Or even some of the camera settings. How bloody typical!

Its the thing I’ve noticed with this ‘ere Lumix… the mode dial on the top seems to have this habit of being too easily knocked into a different position to that originally selected.
So whilst I thought I was shooting in one mode, I was actually shooting in another.

And the fact that I’ve noticed this little glitch before makes it even more annoying. Y’see, I’ve said it before and no doubt I’ll say it again… there’s a very good reason why this blog’s titled “Adventures of an Idiot“!

Anyway, that prob’ly explains why the pics looked a bit strange on the LCD. Not that I ever take much notice of camera LCDs nowadays.

Or, seemingly, anything else.

One day perhaps I may manage to get it right. Don’t hold your breath though. I’m certainly not holding mine.

SWEET photos! No Really! I love art in the photography forum and several of these I could see in a gallery. my lil sister lives in NYC and she is the photog and film expert in my family. Wanna see if I can get a galllery show for you? Ok, now I am kidding. I know no one. LoL! Still… Oh, and the title to this blog proves to me you DO have it right. So someday is here! Oh! And thanks, now I have a new blog site to annoy people on! LoL! I HAD to sign up to leave this and well you are worth it. I Love this blog and all the new insight I gleaned about you from it!Shine on! xo!

Hey serafinn, thanks for visiting… and the kind comments.

That’s the sneaky thing with this ‘ere blog y’see… to leave a comment you have to sign up with WordPress. But I’m sure you won’t regret it. And I’ll definitely visit yours when you get some stuff sorted (heh heh, yet another blog I can haunt!).

Galleries eh? Hmm. Even were it possible I’m not too sure I’d fancy that. Its bad enough making a silly arse of myself on the ‘net. To do it in front of those types that visit galleries as well… I doubt I could cope.
And then there’s the risk that I might begin taking myself seriously and end up like so many other photogs who start out with the best of intentions. Oh, the shame of it.

On the other hand, must confess that the thought of me hangin’ in a gallery, by a piece of rope with a noose on the end sort of thing, has a certain twisted appeal. Though I suspect it could get a bit painful after a time. And then there’s that silly dance you have to do at the end, an’ I’m definitely not into dancing. So perhaps not.
      :)

These are great photos. B&W snow pics are good.

So which setting did you click these pics on?:) Don’t tell me you don’t remember! Heh.
I really like the new perspectives in these pics, esp the 2nd one with the car filling the frame in a bullying sort of way!

Well, I normally have it set to “A”, which is Aperture Priority. But somehow the dial had managed to settle itself on “S”, which apparently is Shutter Priority. The main effect of which seemed to be that everything was shot at ISO 100. And the only indication I really had that something was adrift was that they all looked significantly darker than normal on the LCD.
Me, in typical cavalier fashion, couldn’t be bothered to investigate why of course… far too busy clicking the little button.
But when I imported ‘em to Lightroom I was confronted with a bunch of pics that were… um… black basically.
Had to tweak the exposure equivalent to a full four stops before I managed to get anything that, by stretching boundaries a little, could be regarded as even remotely worth hanging on to.

Oh well. Sometimes it just gets a bit tiresome being me. ;)
