Its all a load of rubbish of course

Now I wonder if anyone remembers me pontificating about the pointlessness of black’n'white when everything seems to revolve around colour photography nowadays?

Going on about how I just don’t “get” black’n'white and you’d never catch me doing that sort of crappy stuff?

No?

Jolly good. I’m so pleased.

Cos true to form* I’ve gone totally back on everything I can remember ever having muttered about it and… um… sort of come to the conclusion that maybe it has got some sort of appeal. Possibly. Perhaps. Just conceivably.

Scene-dependent naturally. And with huge qualifications.

So I thought I’d play around with it a little bit. Only a little bit mind you. Just to persuade myself that I was right to begin with and its all a load of rubbish of course.

Yeah. Right.

And… er… it was one of the uses (shooting in b&w, as opposed to appropriate post-processing… though that’s not a strictly accurate description of what’s actually happening in-camera I suspect) I’d had in mind for this new toy I’ve just acquired (last post refers).

Not that I’m getting into black’n'white. Oh no. Heaven forbid. Why would I want to do a stupid and utterly pointless think like that? To say nothing of the “arty” connotations it possesses (shudder). Got no time for all that bloody nonsense.

Ho hum.

* “True to form” I said. Well, I seem to recollect having done such an about-turn on a coupla things in the past. Only minor things really. Stuff like computers (“total waste of time; can’t ever achieve anything good with them”); the internet (“it’ll kill real communication”); mobile phones (“totally unnecessary”); and… er… photography (“I’ll never get into that again!”). Somehow I’m seeing a disinct pattern beginning to emerge. Hmm.
Well, at least I can’t be accused of being inconsistent!
