It was like this see…
This ‘ere guy propositions me.
Well, to be more precise he proposes a bit of a joint photo sesh, sorta thing.
Cos apparently he’s got a new(ish) camera he’s eager to put through its paces.
Seems he’s acquired this bit o’ kit in a grossly unfair manner (says he, with the green-eyed Goddess of Jealousy looming large… methinks I may have to get me a bit of that action… particularly given the absolute truckloads of dosh I’ve spent on photo kit) and has to do some sort of review of it.
Lucky sod!
And me… well… I’m always up for a bit of a photo jaunt anyway.
So on this deceptively overcast October day we join forces and sally forth unto… er… well, where we actually ended up was at Bedford’s Priory Country Park.
A not totally unfamiliar location for photo-type stuff far as I’m concerned. But hey. Who worries about minor details like that?
And as it turned out mein companion knew a few little pathways that moi had not yet discovered.
Bonus!
And curiously, wherever we went we seemed to encounter all these strange seat-type things (and stuff) carved out of wood.
Of which I absolutely love taking pics. Cos they’re so… er… picworthy.
Strange though cos it was only the day before that I’d encountered another (presumably newish) seat carved out of wood at Shocott Spring in Marston Vale…
Must be getting to be the “in thing” hereabouts or something. I dunno.
Anyway, alongside this treasure trove of carved wood goodies we also shot a few pics of “avenues of trees”. Most notably along the Embankment in Bedford.
Now this is the type of shot that another mate and I have tried… oh so many times… to capture but somehow they’ve never come out quite right. Not fully met our expectations, sort of thing. Or we’ve failed to capture the true sense of what we were seeing (or how we perceived it?).
But this time, with different companion, somehow it “clicked”. And I managed to get much closer with a pic to what I wanted to capture than I’ve ever done before. Bizarre!
Also (of course) I had to demonstrate to mein companion my favourite “getting down and dirty” technique… that one day might actually produce something worthwhile!
What came out of this little session though was a handful of pics that I really rather quite like. (Promo plug now… you can see the complete set from the session here!)
And it was a bit of a laugh as well. Thoroughly enjoyable time in fact.
Just hope companion found it equally as rewarding.

The wooden seats are exceptional! And truly photo-worthy as you say. This sort of folk-art type thing is very cool.
And I would agree…you really have gotten some nice shots of the paths. If only that damn rubbish bin wasn’t in the way! Really…you should have someone move those for you. Bedford should not be impeding your photo ops.
Don’t you just love those carved woody things! They seem to be springing up everywhere. I reckon there must be a bunch of elves in a little secret factory somewhere knocking them out at cut-down prices!
David made a similar remark about the bin (I think it was that one at least). Could have overcome it by “recomposing with my feet” (heh heh) but I actually wanted to include it! Cos I’m awkward like that.
As for Bedford getting in the way, a classic example of that was a session a few weeks back when Darren and I pondered the possibility of buying up a load of real estate and knocking everything down just so we could get a decent skyline shot!
