A week without photographs?

_G103186

This week, as last week, looked to be shaping up to be one without pics. Nothing anticipated. Nothing planned.

“Wot?” sez I to meself, “A week without photographs? Whatever next? Can’t be having that. If all else fails best get meself out into the garden and see what calls to me.”

So I did.

Dunno how I’d manage otherwise without my regular weekly fix of arguing with the camera, messing around with the memory card (for which read dropping it then peering around all over the place trying to find it again), battling with Lightroom (hmm… I seem to have missed out mentioning having to wait patiently whilst the computer has a meeting with itself to decide whether it wants to work or not), chucking out all the unmistakeable rubbish, and persuading myself that the ones left are ok to keep. Then trying to decide which of those are worth uploading.

(What I really want to know is, what the hell’s the computer doing when its not obviously doing anything. I know its doing something cos the little lights are flickering, but is it ever gonna tell me what its up to? Like hell. No wonder I’m paranoid about all these electronic gizmos doing things behind my back. Simply can’t trust ‘em!)

Then it took me absolutely ages to upload the damn things to Flickr. Seems like they’re experiencing glitches again. I do so hate it when that happens! Computers again y’see. Got a mind of their own they have. D’you know, my networked drives even send me emails! Come to think of it, so does my router. Its quite worrying really. What’s even more worrying is when I catch myself replying! If I could only teach them how to make coffee for me.

I begin to wonder why I put myself through this practically every week.

I know why… its fun. In a perverse sort of way.

Now, I’m not saying our sportsmen have little balls, but…

I wonder if this is the same little guy that kept me company in the garden all day a coupla weeks or so back? If so then he seems to be a bit thinner. Maybe I should start putting some food out again.
Whatever… he seemed happy enough singing to me all the time I was out there. If I could understand bird language I’d probably hear him saying something like “Oi you bastard, gimme some food!” Or maybe “Hey guys, look at this plonker trying to take pics of me!”

_G103205
Surely that can’t really be the time?

_G103197
Strange… I could have sworn there was a fence around here somewhere!

_G103159
Huh… that’s not gonna be a lot of use when the floods start!

_G103259
Ah yes, I see… camera’s playing tricks on me again!

Oh, and by the by… just received a request from a local Council official for permission to use some of my pics in-Council. Crikey. Much more of this and I’ll be getting a reputation for respectability. That’ll never do. There goes all my street cred, straight out the window!

Street cred? You? Perish the thought. One cannot lose what one didn’t have.
    ;-)

You don’t suppose your becoming just a bit OCD about this photography venture, do you?

  2. fotdmike says:

    “OCD”? What the hell’s that?

I am glad you went out into your garden and shot some pics. They are great. I flipped through them this week but haven’t spent a whole lot of time in flickr to comment. I’ve been so damn busy this week. Work was priority…i had things that had to be done and unfortunately, i put some time into it while at home. (sigh)

Oh well, that’s done and now I am back in it. :)

  4. fotdmike says:

Good to see you back Tam but yeah, I know that feeling :(

As well as trying to do all the normal photo-related type stuff I’ve been bogged down the past coupla weeks with loads of other web stuff plus a few protest-type things that are brewing.

    And its still all ongoing!

    Oh for a 36-hour day ;)

    OCD = Obsessive Compulsive Disorder.

I think there’s a picture of you under the Wikipedia page for OCD…….

  6. fotdmike says:

Oh… I see. But I think its pro’bly OID you mean. Obsessive Impulsive Disorder.
Well, Disorder’s right… you should just see my computer room. And Impulsive’s definitely right. Obsessive? Hmm. Yeah I s’pose so. I do rather obsess about… no p’raps I’d best not say, I’d just get myself over-excited and we can’t be having that.

On the other hand, y’know that old thing about projecting onto others don’t ya? Well…
