Thanks forkboy... problem is with this sort of tale, once I get started I just seem to ramble on and on.

And I think its extremely unlikely I've been underbilled. Worst possible case is that I'm paying the right amount, and that's almost equally as unlikely.

Re the point'n'shoot... odd how just as, for practically the first time, I was beginning to appreciate its finer qualities I go and break the damn thing. What an utterly stupid thing to do... and so avoidable too.
Despite not having the cash right this instant I've already been looking to see what's around as a replacement and so far I've not come across anything truly inspiring. Though I'm being a bit tempted by the Canon SX110.
But then I always seem to come back to wanting the RAW option, which really does mean the G9 or G10. No, there still aren't all that many of them to choose from (if you meant RAW-capable point'n'shoots) and the Canons certainly seem to be the front-runners.
Realistically though, what I'll probably end up with (knowing me only too well) is a bog-standard point'n'shoot and a G9 or G10. I'm a bit mad like that.

This is really a great post, Mike. I really enjoyed your tome...the way you worked through it and such.

And that is a very nice picture of the robin (English). The p&s did a nice job and you thanked it by killing it.

But hey! This opens a door for you.....perhaps time to consider a compact digi that offers RAW ability? Your friend LifeSpy certainly likes the G9, but there are so many from which to select these days.

Oh, one last thought....now that you've cleared away the mess from the meter, is it possible that an actual reading might lead them to discover they have been under-billing you?

I mean, perish the thought, but....
