And anyway I’m fairly sure I’ve already sussed how to overcome it should I have another session there. Just requires a bit of testing is all.

Neither would conversing with other photographers do any good… not that I’d do that anyway. Cos the real problem is me and my damn cavalier attitude to this whole photography caper. But then again that’s always been pretty much my approach to all things for most of my life… “Oh, I’ll muddle through somehow. It’ll be all right on the night” sort of thing.
And the reality is I wouldn’t have it any other way. Not for me the endless fretting over all the finer points of whatever I’m doing. No, I’m all for the “Just get stuck in and do it, and worry about it afterwards” approach.
And funnily enough, most times it seems to work. And on the odd occasions it doesn’t, well, those are the times I seem to learn a helluva lot in a very short time.

And to me it would seem that the real problem is you haven’t yet discovered how to solve this problem completely.

The tripod helps, but alone wasn’t enough. ISO 800, but not enough. Big aperture, but not enough. And, of course, I’m no good to you because I have no idea at all. Must be time to converse with some photographers in the press and ask them how they do it.

You certainly have my sympathies.
