So there was I, down in Brighton, ostensibly to photograph a noise demo occurring there.
But Brighton’s right on England’s South Coast. Which is by the sea. And my original home town was also on the South Coast (admittedly lots of miles away from Brighton, but nevertheless…). And one of the things I’ve missed most desperately since living at my present location is the total absence of the sea… the sight, the sound, the smell.
Well, how could I possibly visit somewhere like that without taking at least a couple of hours out to remind myself what the sea looks like?
And how could I possibly amble along a seafront, lugging photobackpack around, without grabbing a shot or three?
Hence this current batch of touristy-type shots… just to remind myself of the seaside of course.

I love the sea. AH, to be there now.
These photos are great. I’m going to head over to flickr and check the rest of them out. Well done!!

Thanks Tam.
Its quite amazing really. Spent most of the first 40 or so years of my life within virtually a stone’s throw of the sea and never really noticed it.
But since I’ve been away from it, its one of the things I miss most of all. Bizarre.

Great photos, especially the ones with the smoke house and the life guard. I love the compositions.

I’ve often wondered how well camera kit reacts (over the long-term of course) with salty sea air. Regardless, I look very forward to (finally) getting around to checking these out Mr. Tourist.

Now that’s quite an interesting question. Providing you don’t drop it in the sea it’d probably be ok, but any metal parts may need watching.

All that salty air….makes me think it might etch the glass on lenses and you’re certainly correct about checking the metal bits of one’s camera.
